BA Culture, Media & Creative Industries

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Kings College London

Program Overview

The King's College London BA in Culture, Media & Creative Industries provides a lively and innovative way of learning about the rapidly changing worlds of culture and media. The course examines how cultural products are produced, circulated, and consumed in various platforms and international contexts. It's ideal for students who are curious about where media, technology, art, and society meet, and how they shape the world we live in today. King's, in the centre of London, places students in the heart of one of the world's most culturally diverse cities — with direct access to galleries, theatres, production houses, and major media organisations.

Curriculum Structure
The course provides a flexible and interdisciplinary curriculum, combining theory with applied perspectives. Key components include:
Cultural Theory & Analysis: You’ll explore the foundations of cultural studies and examine the power structures within cultural institutions.
Media and Communication Studies: Understand how digital platforms and traditional media impact public life, identities, and industries.
Creative Industries Modules: Cover the business and policy aspects of sectors like fashion, film, publishing, music, and games.
Optional Modules: Later years allow specialism with modules in journalism, global media, digital culture, or even a semester abroad.
Dissertation: The third year consists of an independent research project where you can explore a topic of your choice.

Campus Location
Teaching takes place on King's Strand Campus, within walking distance of the Southbank, Covent Garden, and Soho — the heart of London's cultural life. This location gives students unmatched access to internship opportunities, guest lectures, and real-world case studies from professionals working in the industry.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

King's encourages students to connect theory and practice:
Work Placement Opportunities: Under King's internships scheme and industry contacts within the creative industries, students can gain practical experience working with museums, PR firms, production houses, and more.
Study Abroad: Eligible students can spend a semester or year abroad at one of King's partner universities, gaining international exposure and a new cultural production insight.
Industry Connections: The department regularly hosts talks and workshops with leading creatives and cultural entrepreneurs — excellent for networking and inspiration.
Student Projects: Students regularly collaborate to make films, podcasts, exhibitions, and digital storytelling projects through coursework or societies.
