Program Overview

The MBiol Biomedical Sciences is a four-year integrated master’s program designed to provide an advanced understanding of biomedical sciences. Year 1
The first year introduces foundational biomedical sciences concepts, including Structure and Function of Human Body Systems, The Basis of Life (cell biology, genetics, and biochemistry), Biology of the Mind, Introduction to Pharmacology, and Practical Application of Clinical, Laboratory and Field Skills for Human Sciences. Students gain practical laboratory experience and exposure to a broad range of biomedical disciplines.

Year 2
The second year builds on core knowledge with modules such as Advanced Biomedical Science Concepts, covering molecular pharmacology, neurobiology, regenerative medicine, and cardiovascular sciences, along with Experimental Skills in Biomedical Sciences for practical research training. Optional modules allow students to specialize in areas of interest and develop transferable skills for research or professional practice.

Year 3
The third year includes a major independent research project, enabling students to apply theoretical and practical knowledge to a specific biomedical problem. Students also choose optional modules to focus on particular biomedical fields, deepening expertise in preparation for advanced study.

Year 4
In the final year, students undertake advanced research and master-level project work, integrating skills from previous years.
