Program Overview

Curriculum structure:

Year 1:
In your first year, you’ll explore the foundations of mental health nursing through modules such as Values and Rights-based Nursing Practice, Health Improvement, and Contemporary Healthcare Delivery. You’ll also study Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice, which equips you to use research and evidence in safe, compassionate nursing, while starting practical experiences in clinical and community settings.

Year 2:
In the second year, your learning focuses on specialist mental health topics, including Working in Interprofessional Teams, Understanding Experiences of Recovery in Mental Health, and Human Response to Stress and Vulnerability. You’ll develop practical skills in assessment, communication, and supporting recovery, while continuing placements in hospitals and community services.

Year 3
In your final year, you’ll build advanced skills through modules like Applying Evidence-Based Practice, Psychosocial Interventions in Mental Health, and Enhancing Skills in Mental Health Nursing. For Honours students, additional focus on research and leadership, including modules such as Leadership in Interprofessional Teams, prepares you for specialist roles and complex mental health care.
