You’ll engage with modules like Applied Midwifery Practice, Public Health and the Childbearing Family, and Risk and Complication Management, combining classroom learning with placements in real health care settings. This is where you start making links between theory and practice, supporting women through pregnancy and birth while refining your decision-making and care planning skills.

Year 3 – Professional Readiness and Leadership
In your final year, you’ll prepare for practice as a professional midwife through advanced study in areas such as Complex Midwifery Care, Leadership in Maternity Services and an independent project or evidence-based practice module. You’ll spend significant time on placement, building confidence and autonomy, while developing leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills essential for modern maternity services. By the end, you’ll be ready to take your place as a qualified midwife.
