The course focuses strongly on normality in childbirth, as well as recognising when referral is required. You will learn how to manage complex situations and engage with current research and evidence to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a high standard of care. This course is accredited by Unicef s Baby Friendly Initiative. Baby Friendly accreditation is based on a set of interlinking evidence-based standards for maternity, health visiting, neonatal and children s centres services. You will be encouraged to work independently, as well as with peers and colleagues to develop team working, negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
