Program Overview

This three-year degree prepares you to become a confident and compassionate mental health nurse, ready to support people across a range of care settings. It’s ideal for students passionate about mental wellbeing, teamwork, and applying practical skills in real-world nursing environments.

Curriculum Structure:
Year 1:
In your first year, you’ll get a strong foundation in nursing practice and start exploring the mental health context. You’ll study modules such as What is Nursing?, Assessing Needs and Planning Care, and Providing and Evaluating Care, along with Professional Practice 1, giving you your first hands-on placement experience to begin thinking like a nurse.

Year 2:
Year two builds on your foundation, helping you manage more complex care situations and develop leadership skills. Modules like Complex Care 1: Assessing and Planning, Complex Care 2: Providing and Evaluating Care, Improving Quality & Safety in a Global Context, and Leadership & Co-ordinating Care support your growth in decision-making, care planning, and practice readiness.

Year 3:
In your final year, you’ll specialise in mental health nursing and prepare for professional practice. You’ll study Nursing Care: Mental Health, Medicines Management and Applied Physiology in Mental Health Nursing, Leadership and Decision Making in Mental Health Nursing, and Delivering High Quality, Safe Nursing Care for People with Mental Health Needs, along with Professional Practice 3. These modules give you advanced skills in care delivery, leadership, and safe medication management, helping you step confidently into your career.
