Program Overview

This Adult Nursing degree is all about preparing you to care for adults in real-life healthcare settings, whether they’re dealing with long-term conditions, recovery from illness, or unexpected health challenges. It’s perfect for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, wants hands-on experience, and is ready to grow into a confident, compassionate nurse.

Curriculum Structure:

Year 1:
Your first year is all about laying the foundations of nursing. You’ll explore modules like Foundations of Nursing Practice, learning essential skills such as patient assessment and communication. Introduction to Nursing and Professional Values helps you understand ethics, legislation, and how your personal values shape your nursing approach. You’ll also take Introduction to Nursing Care Throughout the Lifespan, giving you practical experience in planning and delivering care. And with Practice Learning Experience Part 1, you’ll step into real clinical settings to start applying what you’ve learned.

Year 2:
In your second year, you’ll deepen your understanding of adult nursing and gain more independence in practice. Understanding Excellence in Care shows you how to provide high-quality care based on evidence and best practice. Approaches to Unscheduled Care in Adult Nursing prepares you for emergencies and unpredictable situations, while Approaches to Nursing Care for Adults with Long-Term Conditions focuses on chronic care management. Through Practice Learning Experience Parts 2a & 2b, you’ll spend more time in real healthcare settings, gaining hands-on experience and confidence.

Year 3:
The final year is about preparing for professional life as a registered nurse. Delivering Excellence in Care introduces research and evidence-based practice. Delivering Complex Adult Nursing Care gives you the skills to care for patients with complex needs, and Leading and Managing Adult Nursing Care helps you develop leadership and teamwork skills. Your final Practice Learning Experiences make sure you’re ready to confidently transition into a full nursing role, supporting real patients under supervision.
