Program Overview

This degree prepares you to become a skilled and confident adult nurse, ready to care for people across different stages of life in a variety of settings. Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll lay the foundations of professional nursing. You’ll explore the ethical, legal, and professional frameworks in Foundations of Professional Practice, and get introduced to real-world nursing in Introduction to Adult Nursing in Primary, Community and Social Care Settings. You’ll also dive into Biosciences in Nursing to understand the human body and disease, and Understanding and Promoting Health and Wellbeing, which looks at health prevention and lifestyle.

Year 2
Year two is all about developing your clinical skills. Developing Adult Care in the Acute Sector focuses on caring for patients with both short-term and long-term conditions, while Pharmacology and Medicines Management teaches safe and effective use of medications. In Nursing Consultation, you’ll practice assessing and planning care, and Working with the Evidence Base and Beyond helps you use research to support your nursing decisions.

Year 3
In your final year, you’ll take on more responsibility and leadership. Leadership, Collaboration and Integrated Care in Practice prepares you to work across teams and manage complex care situations. Practice 3 lets you apply all your learning in real-world settings with more independence. Finally, Research, Innovation and Improvement (Dissertation) allows you to undertake your own project, building skills to improve care and make informed decisions in practice.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Virtual-reality and digital learning tools – experience clinical scenarios in immersive, tech-enhanced simulations.

  • Extensive clinical placements – complete around 2,300 hours in hospitals, community clinics, voluntary organisations, and independent care settings.

  • Group and team-based learning – develop your communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through role-play, inter-professional sessions, and practical labs.

  • Modern learning environments – study in newly upgraded spaces equipped with the latest digital infrastructure, designed specifically for healthcare education.
