Curriculum Structure
Year 1
Your first year is all about building a strong foundation. You’ll study modules like Applied Anatomy, Physiology and Integrated Pharmacology, Introduction to Person Centred Care, and 21st Century Nurse, giving you a solid understanding of the human body, communication, and evidence-based care. You’ll also start your first supervised practice placement (Practice Learning 1), applying classroom learning to real patient care and developing essential clinical skills.
Year 2
In the second year, you’ll expand your skills and start thinking more critically about care delivery. Modules such as Interprofessional Research & Innovation help you explore evidence-based practice and service improvement, while your practice placements give you hands-on experience in adult and children’s care settings. There’s also the exciting opportunity for a Year Abroad Study Exchange, broadening your understanding of healthcare in an international context.
Year 3
The third year focuses on advancing your clinical competence and confidence. You’ll undertake field-specific Practice Learning 2a Adult Nurse placements and other experiences that strengthen your skills in complex care, medicines management, and professional decision-making. This year is about consolidating your learning and preparing for autonomous practice.
Year 4
Your final year gives you the chance to consolidate your learning across both fields while stepping into leadership and advanced practice roles. Modules like Advancing Leadership and Supervision and Practice Learning 3 Children’s Nurse equip you to mentor others, manage care safely, and provide high-quality nursing for children and families. You’ll also complete a master’s-level module, Engaging with Masters Study, preparing you for lifelong learning and future advanced practice opportunities.
