Curriculum Structure

Year One
Your first year lays the foundation for your nursing career. You’ll study modules like Applied Biological Sciences for Health, Professional Practice and Accountability, and Introduction to Communication and Interpersonal Skills, giving you a strong understanding of the science, ethics, and communication skills behind effective nursing. You’ll also start exploring Introduction to Learning Disabilities Nursing, preparing you for practical placements later on.

Year Two
In your second year, you’ll start applying theory to real-life situations. Modules such as Pharmacology and Medicine Therapeutics and Recognition and Assessment of Physical & Mental Health of Clients with Learning Disabilities will help you assess needs and plan safe, effective care. You’ll also deepen your communication skills through Communication and Relationship Management in a Therapeutic Context, learning to build meaningful connections with people with complex needs.

Year Three
The final year is all about consolidating your knowledge and becoming a confident professional. You’ll study Clinical Decision Making and Complex Care and Leading and Managing Health and Social Care, learning to make independent, compassionate decisions and prepare for professional registration. Consolidating Awareness of Learning Disability Nursing helps you integrate your skills and knowledge, ready to take on real-world challenges with confidence.
