Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

At Roehampton, Adult Nursing isn’t just about classroom learning — you’ll get hands-on, real-world experience from day one. The course combines lectures with practical training in purpose-built simulation centres and placements in hospitals, community services, hospices, and care homes. This mix of theory and practice helps you build confidence, develop your skills, and see first-hand what a nursing career is really like.

Here’s how you’ll gain practical experience:

  • Clinical Simulation Centres (CSC): Practice essential nursing skills in realistic environments, from hospital wards to GP surgery rooms and simulated patient homes, using hi-tech patient simulators and role-play with service users.

  • Real-world placements: Spend time in hospitals, community health services, care homes, hospices, and rehabilitation centres — experiencing acute care, long-term care, and community nursing.

  • Team-based learning: Learn alongside students from other healthcare fields, gaining a strong sense of how nurses collaborate in real-life healthcare teams.

  • Blended learning: Benefit from a combination of lectures, seminars, group work, online modules, reflective exercises, and simulation-based assessments.

  • Optional elective placements: Explore special areas of nursing, or even gain international experience depending on your interests.
