3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
Surrey’s Adult Nursing BSc is designed for students who want a hands-on, people-focused career where every day makes a real difference. The programme blends scientific learning with extensive practical training, giving you the confidence and competence to care for adults of all ages in a wide range of healthcare settings.
Curriculum structure
Year 1
Your first year builds a strong foundation in how the human body works, with modules on anatomy, physiology, and the principles of nursing practice. Through Adult Nursing 1, you’ll start developing essential clinical skills in Surrey’s simulation suites — practising communication, patient assessment, and day-to-day care safely before stepping into real clinical environments.
Year 2
In second year, you move into more advanced topics such as managing long-term conditions, understanding altered physiology, and supporting adults with complex physical and mental health needs. Adult Nursing 2 helps you learn how to plan care, make ethical decisions, and collaborate effectively within healthcare teams, giving you confidence in more challenging clinical situations.
Year 3
Your final year brings everything together. Through Adult Nursing 3, you’ll refine your decision-making, lead care planning, manage deteriorating patients, and strengthen your approach to evidence-based, compassionate practice. By the end, you’re fully prepared to step into professional roles and register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Focus areas
"Nursing care for adults, clinical skills development, anatomy & physiology, long-term and acute illness management, evidence-based practice, leadership and ethics, holistic person-centred care."

At Surrey, you won’t just learn nursing from textbooks — you’ll get hands-on experience from day one. The programme is designed so you can practice skills safely in simulation labs before taking them into real clinical settings, helping you build confidence and competence while still a student. You’ll also get to work alongside real healthcare teams in hospitals and community settings, giving you a true taste of life as a professional nurse. Here’s how your learning comes to life:
Clinical Simulation Centre – Train in realistic wards and critical care units using lifelike manikins and actors to practice scenarios safely, from everyday patient care to emergency situations.
