Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Foundations of Nutrition

In your first year, you’ll explore the basics of human physiology, nutrition, and food science, building a solid foundation for your studies. Key modules include Human Physiology, Nutrition, and Food & Food Science, alongside Personal Development & Communication Skills for Dietitians. You’ll also take part in Practice Placement A, a short 3-week work-based placement to apply your learning and get a taste of professional practice.

Year 2: Advanced Nutritional Concepts and Placement

Year two dives deeper into nutritional science, including Nutritional Biochemistry and Food & Society, helping you understand both the science and social aspects of nutrition. You’ll gain practical experience during Practice Placement B, a 13-week placement across nutrition and dietetics settings in Yorkshire and the North East, allowing you to see your learning in action.

Year 3: Professional Practice and Specialization

In your third year, you’ll focus on advanced topics such as Advanced Nutrition and Public Health Nutrition, and refine your skills in professional settings. Practice Placement C gives you a 12-week immersive experience in nutrition and dietetics departments, helping you gain confidence and hands-on expertise.

Year 4: Optional Placement Year

For students opting for a placement year, this is a fantastic opportunity to work full-time in the field of nutrition. You’ll apply everything you’ve learned in a real-world environment, gain invaluable professional experience, and boost your employability after graduation.
