The Master of Dietetics (MDiet)/BSc (Hons) Dietetics at Queen Margaret University is a dynamic four-year program that blends academic study with hands-on experience. Curriculum Structure:

Year One:

In your first year, you’ll build a solid foundation with modules like Human Physiology, Food, Lifestyle and Society, and Introduction to Food Science. Alongside this, Skills for Academic & Professional Success will help you develop the study techniques and professional habits you’ll use throughout the course. This year sets you up with both the knowledge and the skills you need to thrive.

Year Two:

Year two is all about diving deeper into the science behind nutrition. You’ll study Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Nutrient Metabolism, and Evidence-Based Practice while starting your practice-based learning with 150 hours of placements. This is where you begin applying what you’ve learned in real-world settings, giving you a taste of professional dietetic work.

Year Three:

In the third year, you’ll explore more advanced topics like Pharmacology, Fundamentals of Nutrition, and Food & Nutrition Policy. You’ll also complete a 12-week practice-based learning block, totaling 450 hours, which gives you hands-on experience across different clinical environments. It’s where theory really meets practice.

Year Four:

The final year is designed to prepare you for professional life. You’ll focus on Leadership in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, and Research Methods, alongside another 12-week practice-based learning block. By the end of the year, you’ll have the confidence, skills, and experience to step straight into a career as a registered dietitian.
