Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

This course is all about putting theory into practice. From your very first year, you’ll be learning in labs, gyms, and health performance spaces — not just classrooms. You’ll gain real-world experience in how nutrition and exercise influence health, using the same tools and methods that professionals rely on in the industry. Whether it’s analysing diets, assessing fitness levels, or working on community health projects, every module is designed to give you hands-on experience and practical confidence.

Here’s how you’ll build those skills throughout your studies:

  • Specialist Nutrition Labs & Software – You’ll work in fully equipped nutrition laboratories and use professional dietary analysis software to measure and interpret nutritional data.

  • Fitness & Health Assessments – Students get involved in health testing, such as body composition and cardiovascular fitness assessments, applying classroom knowledge in real health and wellbeing contexts.

  • Group Projects & Case Studies – Many modules include group work, giving you the chance to design and present health or nutrition intervention plans — just like in a real workplace.

  • Vocational Qualifications – You can earn additional certifications alongside your degree, including gym instructor and personal trainer qualifications, enhancing your employability before you even graduate.

  • Applied Modules – Courses like Public Health Nutrition, Applied Nutrition & Dietary Analysis, and Nutrition for Sport & Exercise are structured around real community and sport settings.

  • State-of-the-Art Facilities – Based on the Carmarthen campus, you’ll have access to physiology and biomechanics labs, a movement studio, sport therapy suites, strength and conditioning spaces, a 3G pitch, and a swimming pool — all designed to support your training and research.
