MPharm Pharmacy

NA On Campus Bachelors Program

University of East Anglia

Program Overview

UEA’s MPharm Pharmacy is a four-year, GPhC-accredited degree designed to prepare you for a dynamic career in pharmacy — blending science, clinical practice, and patient care from day one. It’s ideal for students who want to train as prescribing healthcare professionals through a curriculum built around real-world placements, interprofessional learning, and cutting-edge pharmaceutical research.

Curriculum structure

Year 1
You’ll be introduced to the core disciplines of pharmacy: pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, and patient care. Modules like Preparing to Become a Pharmacy Professional and Interprofessional Learning – Level 1 help you develop foundational skills in medicine supply, communication, and professionalism. You’ll also begin placements and work in a simulated dispensary.

Year 2
Building on Year 1, you’ll study clinical topics such as infectious diseases, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, and endocrine disorders. You’ll engage in Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Pharmaceutical Care modules, with placements expanding into hospital and community settings. Team-based and problem-based learning deepen your clinical reasoning and collaboration.

Year 3
You’ll tackle complex patient care through modules like Advanced Pharmacy Practice, Medicines Optimisation, and Clinical Pharmacokinetics. You’ll work alongside other healthcare students in simulated scenarios and undertake placements where you contribute to real patient care — including blood pressure screenings, vaccinations, and medicines reconciliation.

Year 4
In your final year, you’ll complete a Pharmacy Research Project and undertake a quality improvement initiative with your placement provider. You’ll refine your prescribing, leadership, and decision-making skills, preparing for the GPhC Foundation Training Year. International project options are available in countries like Germany, France, Spain, and Vietnam.
