Public health focuses on creating a healthy and happy society by tackling the underlying causes of ill health, to prevent health problems and promote health and wellbeing.Increasing government attention is focused on improving population health, and many agencies now have public health responsibilities. This is opening up new opportunities for innovative approaches and also brings with it the need for a well-prepared public health workforce, able to work flexibly across many disciplines and demonstrate a wide range of abilities.
