If you’re fascinated by the big questions that shape our world—justice, power, climate change, inequality—Warwick’s PPE degree gives you the perfect toolkit. You’ll combine philosophy’s critical thinking, politics’ understanding of institutions, and economics’ analytical power, building a versatile foundation for careers in policy, business, and beyond.
Curriculum structure
Year One
Your first year sets the stage, giving you a strong grounding across all three subjects. You’ll take core classes in philosophy, politics, and economics while developing essential skills in maths and statistics through Quantitative Techniques. With most modules fixed, you’ll get a balanced introduction before branching out.
Year Two
This is when you make the program your own. You can stick with all three subjects or specialise by focusing on two—or even choose a major. Politics students often dive into Foundations of Political Theory or Topics in Political Theory, while economics specialists explore Applied Econometrics or Economics 2. Philosophy fans can pick Ethics or History of Modern Philosophy. The flexibility lets you explore what excites you most.
Year Three
Your final year is about depth and independence. You’ll take interdisciplinary modules like Economics and Philosophy or Philosophy and Politics that bring your learning together, and you can also choose from a wide range of specialist options. Many students also complete a dissertation or research project, sharpening their expertise and preparing for graduate study or employment.
Focus areas
Critical reasoning, global politics and institutions, economic theory and data analysis, interdisciplinary approaches to real-world challenges.
Learning outcomes
By graduation, you’ll be able to argue clearly and logically, handle data with confidence, and connect ideas across disciplines. You’ll also know how to evaluate complex issues from multiple perspectives, communicate persuasively, and carry out independent research.
Professional alignment
While PPE doesn’t carry a formal accreditation, it’s a degree designed with employability in mind. You’ll graduate with strong analytical and research skills valued in government, NGOs, consulting, finance, and media.
Reputation
Warwick is one of the UK’s most respected universities—ranked the 6th most targeted university by top UK graduate employers. Its Economics, Politics, and Philosophy departments all enjoy excellent reputations, and graduate outcomes are consistently strong, with the vast majority of students moving quickly into professional roles or further study.
At Warwick, PPE is designed to take you far beyond the lecture hall. You’ll learn through lively seminars, debates, and guest talks that connect what you study directly to the world’s toughest challenges. From day one, you’re encouraged to think critically, work in teams, and engage with real issues—whether that’s through research centres, career events, or student-led projects.
And the hands-on opportunities don’t stop there:
Inspiring speaker series: Hear from public and private sector leaders through the Warwick Economics Lectures and Politics research seminars, giving you first-hand insights into how ideas play out in practice.
PPE Society: Join one of the most active societies on campus, where you’ll meet employers, attend career panels, record podcasts, and even take part in trips across the UK and abroad.
Collaborative projects: Many classes use workshops and group projects that push you to test ideas, debate, and problem-solve with your peers—just like in the real world.
Professional placements: You can extend your degree to four years with a work placement, giving you the chance to apply your skills directly in government, business, or NGOs before you graduate.
Mentoring & career support: With mentoring schemes, networking events, and careers workshops built into the PPE experience, you’ll have plenty of support to prepare for your next step.
Warwick PPE graduates leave with a skillset that employers really value: sharp reasoning, strong data skills, and the ability to connect ideas across disciplines. That’s why 96% of graduates were in graduate-level jobs or further study within six months. Typical career paths include roles in government and policy, finance and consulting, media and journalism, and international organisations.
What helps make this possible is the support and connections you’ll have throughout your degree:
Careers support: Dedicated one-to-one career advice, CV workshops, employer fairs, and alumni panels give you tailored guidance for your ambitions.
Proven outcomes: Warwick Economics graduates report a median salary of around £41,000 just 15 months after finishing their degree—PPE students benefit from the same strong reputation in the job market.
Employer links: PPE graduates have gone on to leading employers like Goldman Sachs, Google, Deloitte, the Bank of England, and the UK Civil Service.
Long-term value: Even without a formal accreditation, PPE carries real weight because of Warwick’s academic reputation and the mix of quantitative and critical thinking skills it provides.
Graduate destinations: Many alumni move into further study, including master’s degrees in Public Policy, Law, Economics, Development Studies, and beyond.
Further Academic Progression:
If you want to take your studies further, this degree sets you up perfectly for postgraduate opportunities—whether that’s a master’s in policy, law, economics, or philosophy, or even a PhD for those aiming at academic or research careers.
