LLB (Hons) Law

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Stirling

Program Overview

The LLB (Hons) Law at the University of Stirling is a four-year honours degree designed to build your confidence as a future legal professional. It’s perfect for students who want to study the law in depth while also understanding how it connects with society, politics and global challenges — giving you both strong legal knowledge and the critical thinking skills that employers value.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

Your first year is all about building a solid foundation in law. You’ll explore how legal systems work, how rights and obligations are created, and how law shapes everyday life. Modules like Public Law and Legal Systems, Contract Law (Obligations), Criminal Law and Evidence, and Law and Society introduce you to key principles that prepare you for more complex topics in later years.

Year 2

In the second year, your learning becomes more specialised. You’ll dive into subjects such as Property Law, Commercial Law, and Family or Succession Law, gaining a deeper understanding of both public and private areas of law. This year helps you see how different fields connect, especially in areas like business, property and obligations.

Year 3

By the third year, the programme encourages you to think more critically and independently. You’ll take advanced modules and also have the option to complete a work placement, where you can apply your legal knowledge in a real-life setting such as a law firm or legal organisation. This hands-on experience gives you a real taste of professional legal work.

Year 4 (Honours Year)

In your final year, you’ll choose from a range of specialist modules — whether you're passionate about commercial law, human rights, environmental law, or another area. You’ll also complete a dissertation or major research project, allowing you to explore a legal topic in depth while strengthening your research and writing skills.
