Program Overview

Gain Real-World Legal Experience with Our Professionally Accredited LLB (Hons) Law

Our professionally accredited LLB (Hons) Law program offers a unique opportunity to observe law in action from Semester 2 of your first year through our award-winning Legal Advice Centre.

In your first year, you’ll take the ‘Law in Society’ module, which provides hands-on experience with real legal cases. You’ll gain invaluable insight into pro bono work, attend solicitor-client interviews, and actively contribute to supporting access to justice in our community.

The Legal Advice Centre remains an integral part of your studies throughout your degree. Since 2014, it has assisted over 500 clients, providing more than £0.6 million worth of free legal advice to the local community.

Exclusive Legal Work Experience – Support Through Court

For students who choose the Advanced Clinical Legal Education module in final year (Level 6), 24 placements are available to work with Support Through Court at Liverpool Civil & Family Justice Centre. You’ll spend one full day a week on-site, helping vulnerable individuals navigate the court system.

Many individuals in England and Wales are forced to represent themselves in court, facing eviction, custody battles, and life-changing decisions without legal guidance. Support Through Court Liverpool, in partnership with LJMU, ensures they are not alone. Our students play a vital role, helping 1376 clients and supporting 178 hearings in the 2022-23 academic year—a 147% increase from previous periods.

LJMU holds an exclusive five-year partnership with Support Through Court, available only to LLB Law students, ensuring unmatched practical legal training.

Stand Out in Law Competitions

Our mooting and advocacy training has led to success in regional and national competitions. Mooting simulates real courtroom trials, allowing students to argue cases before Senior Barristers.

  • Emily and Shay, second and final-year students, won the prestigious Oriel Chamber competition.
  • Our students excel in Client Interviewing and Counselling Competitions.
  • We hosted the UK’s first-ever National Mediation Competition for law students.
  • Our Mediation team became overall champions at the INADR Law Schools Mediation Tournament in Dubai, with each member securing a top 10 finalist spot.

A Law Degree with a Competitive Edge
