This is a distinctive award for those who have already acquired some qualifications but wish to study at a higher level and attain a legal degree. It provides opportunities within areas of employment which require legal knowledge but not a Qualifying Law Degree ( QLD). You will receive advice and guidance on option selection and careers advice from the dedicated Law School Careers Guidance Adviser.
Higher College of Technology Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.7/4.0 or B-, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 28 points overall, Successful completion of a relevant International Foundation Year from a recognised UK Institution, A minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0, with 5.5 in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
This is a new award but it is anticipated that many of our graduates will progress to further legal study and subsequently to the professional stage of qualification as a lawyer by studying either the Legal Practice Course leading to qualification as a solicitor, or the Bar Professional Training Course leading to qualification as a barrister. Others will go on to qualify as chartered legal executives or as licensed conveyancers. Other graduates are likely to work in a variety of law and business related jobs including the Courts Service, human resource management, Customs and Excise, accounting and insolvency practice, company secretary, law enforcement and the civil service.

Whilst this course will provide you with exemptions from the academic stage of qualification as a solicitor or barrister (enabling you, if you wish, to complete the professional stage by progressing to a Graduate Diploma in Law course such as that offered here at Staffordshire University), this course provides opportunities within other areas of employment which require legal knowledge but not a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD).
