Program Overview

The LLB (Hons) Law at the University of Brighton is designed to give you a solid grounding in legal knowledge while developing the practical skills needed for a successful legal career. It’s ideal for students who want a career in law, the justice system, or related professional sectors, combining core legal study with opportunities to apply your learning in real-world contexts.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll cover foundational law modules such as Legal Skills and Methods, Public Law, and Contract Law. These modules introduce the legal system, develop analytical thinking, and help you understand key principles while building essential skills like legal research, reasoning, and communication.

Year 2
The second year deepens your knowledge with modules like Criminal Law, Law of Tort, and Constitutional and Administrative Law. You’ll also start exploring practical aspects of legal practice, including applying the law to real-life scenarios, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making.

Year 3
In your final year, you’ll focus on advanced topics and optional modules such as Equity and Trusts, Company Law, or Family Law. The year culminates in a Dissertation or Independent Research Project, allowing you to specialise in an area of interest and demonstrate your research, analytical, and writing skills — preparing you fully for professional practice or further study.
