LLB Hons Law

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

York St John University

Program Overview

The LLB (Hons) Law at York St John University gives you a strong, modern foundation in legal study while encouraging you to think critically about how law shapes everyday life. It’s designed for students who want to build solid legal knowledge, develop practical skills and gain the confidence needed to move into professional legal training or a wide range of justice-related careers.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Building Your Legal Foundations

In your first year, you’ll explore the core principles that underpin legal study and begin developing the skills every aspiring lawyer needs. You’ll study modules such as Contract Law, Criminal Law and Public Law, each helping you understand how legal rules are formed, interpreted and applied. This year also strengthens your ability to analyse cases, think logically and communicate clearly.

Year 2 – Expanding Your Legal Knowledge

Your second year deepens your understanding of key legal areas while helping you apply legal principles to real scenarios. Modules like Tort Law, Land Law and Equity and Trusts introduce you to the frameworks that govern rights, responsibilities and the resolution of disputes. You’ll also explore optional topics that allow you to tailor your degree to your interests, whether you’re drawn to human rights, business law or social justice.

Year 3 – Advanced Topics and Professional Preparation

In your final year, you’ll bring together everything you’ve learned and focus on areas that match your career goals. You’ll choose from specialist modules such as International Law, Family Law or Human Rights, depending on what inspires you most. You’ll also complete a dissertation or major research project, giving you the chance to investigate a legal issue you care about and demonstrate your ability to think independently and present strong, well-reasoned arguments.
