BA Geology (Volcanology)

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Keele University

Program Overview

Geology is the study of the structure, evolution and dynamics of the Earth and its natural mineral and energy resources. The discipline draws on knowledge from many different aspects of science such as chemistry, biology, and physics as well as other subjects such as geography, environmental science and economics. Society is based on the work of geologists in the hunt for natural resources for energy and materials for modern living. Geologists are likely to be in high demand for years to come due to the continuous evolution of modern societies. Geology is also playing a key role in establishing a decarbonised, sustainable future through development of carbon neutral energy sources such as geothermal, sustainable extraction of mineral resources and geological sequestration of carbon dioxide.
