BSc Hons Microbiology

Microbiology is the study of bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. These agents have a huge impact on human health and disease; the environment; food industries, and pharmaceutical and chemicals industries. They can be variously harmful or beneficial, and our understanding of their importance continues to grow as microbiologists apply such techniques as genome sequencing and systems biology in their research. This programme allows flexibility to select modules from the Medical Microbiology; Food Science and Microbiology, and Biotechnology programmes to allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding across a breadth of microbiology disciplines.
