This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of animal biology. You will examine the molecular biology, genetics and physiology of animals and discover the ways in which these have influenced animal evolution and behaviour. You will have the opportunity to acquire a wide range of valuable field, laboratory and analytical skills that can be applied to the study of zoology. Typical areas of study will include animal evolution and behaviour, movement physiology and ecology, the cognition and communication of birds, invertebrate taxonomy and physiology, vertebrate evolution, the genetics of animal populations, and population biology of tropical animals.
