Criminology is a subject that links very well with sociology, as the problem of crime and its costs to society is an important and pressing issue. This course will enable you to think about how the characteristics of a particular society play an important part in the explanations of crime in that society. You will also learn about sociology's long-standing attention to our individual lives and the ways in which they intersect with wider social structures. You will learn about the gathering and analyzing of data through research methods and you will develop strong skills in critique, analysis and communication.
