BSc Economics & Management

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Kings College London

Program Overview

The BSc Economics and Management at King's College London is a research-led degree combining core economic theory (microeconomics, macroeconomics, labour economics) with management disciplines (finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, and business law). The focus is on understanding decision-making by individuals, firms, and governments, along with the organization and strategy of businesses.

Students gain strong theoretical knowledge, but the course is less technical in econometrics and data analytics compared to a pure Economics degree.

  • Year 1: Foundations in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Introduction to Management fields.
  • Year 2: Intermediate Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, plus specialization in Management (e.g., Corporate Finance, Strategy, Marketing).
  • Year 3: Advanced electives, option for a dissertation, or an optional placement year after Year 2.

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, case studies, group projects, coursework, and exams. Some students complete a final-year research dissertation if they do not opt for a placement.

King’s Economics and Management is ranked Joint 1st in the UK for Business & Management Graduate Outcomes (Complete University Guide 2024). King's overall is ranked 35th globally (QS World University Rankings 2024).

Unique advantages include central London location (near major financial firms and consultancies) and teaching by research-active faculty.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Placement Year: Students can take an optional placement year after Year 2, gaining professional experience in finance, consulting, public sector, or management roles. Support is provided by King's Global Placements Team, but securing a placement is the student's responsibility.

Study Abroad: Students may apply for a semester or full year abroad at a partner university, enhancing global business and economic understanding.

Practical Coursework: Learning is applied through live case studies, consultancy projects, and business simulations, mirroring real-world business challenges.

Entrepreneurship Opportunities: Through King’s Entrepreneurship Institute, students can join business competitions, start-up accelerators, and entrepreneurship training programs.
