 Learning and Assessment Methods

  • Class Size ~40 students in lectures, 12–15 in seminars
  • You will simulate trading environments, analyse live market data, and complete project-based learning.

 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Real-world Case Studies Core modules integrate real-world data sets and case studies from major corporate partners such as KPMG, Amazon, and Accenture.
 

Bloomberg Terminal Access UEL is a Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner. Students receive hands-on training in live market analysis using Bloomberg trading suites, one of the largest in the UK.

 

Internships & Projects While the degree does not have a compulsory placement year, students can access internship and short project opportunities through Career Zone, UEL’s digital employability platform.

 

Simulated Investment Games: Students participate in trading simulations and business scenarios using industry-standard financial software to develop asset management and investment strategy skills.

 

 Applied Economics Project In the final year, students complete an Applied Economics Project, working independently on a real-world economic research topic using econometric tools and policy evaluation techniques.

 

Consultancy Practice Module In the final-year “Global Enterprise and Consultancy Practice” (Mental Wealth 3), students simulate professional consultancy projects and deliver insights to hypothetical stakeholders.

 

Volunteering for Credit Students can take part in community service and social enterprise projects in London. Volunteering can be formally credited towards the degree.

 

 Industry Engagement Students attend employer networking events, industry speaker series, and skills-based masterclasses from London-based economic and financial firms.

Mental Wealth Programme & Careers Passport

The Mental Wealth Programme is a signature UEL initiative that integrates emotional intelligence, leadership, and digital literacy with academic learning.

Careers Passport:  A digital record of technical, interpersonal, and professional skills acquired throughout the course.

External Validation Skills validated by employers like Amazon, Microsoft, enhancing graduate credibility.

Embedded Modules Included in each year of study (e.g., Mental Wealth 1, 2, 3) focusing on employability, digital fluency, and resilience.
