Curriculum Structure

Year 1
The foundational year introduces core concepts and historical contexts. Students engage with:

  • International Relations Theory

  • History of the International System

  • Conflict and Diplomacy

  • Contemporary Security Issues

Year 2
Building upon initial studies, the second year emphasizes research and global politics. Modules include:

  • Research Methods in War Studies and International Relations

  • Global Politics
    Additionally, students select from a range of subjects within the Department of War Studies and European & International Studies.

Year 3
The final year allows for specialization and independent research. Students undertake:

  • 90 credits of optional modules

  • A research dissertation on a subject of their choice
