3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
This exciting degree explores how politics works on a global stage — from the causes of conflict to the role of organisations like the UN and the impact of human rights movements. It’s a perfect choice if you’re curious about world affairs, global justice, and how individuals and governments can make real change.
Curriculum structure
Year 1
Your first year builds a strong foundation in political thinking and international relations. You’ll study modules such as Introduction to International Relations and Politics, Introduction to Political Philosophy, and Modern Global History: Empire, Statehood and Sovereignty. You’ll also learn to communicate ideas effectively in Communicating Politics and Protest and explore how citizens engage with politics in Being Politically Engaged. By the end of the year, you’ll understand the core principles that shape the modern world.
Year 2
In your second year, you’ll dive deeper into global issues and explore how power and ideas shape international relations. Core modules like Debating International Relations Theories and Politics in Practice develop your analytical and research skills. You can also choose from fascinating options such as International Organisations, Colonial Africa 1880–1994, or Politics and Popular Culture, allowing you to tailor your studies to your interests — whether that’s diplomacy, history, or cultural politics.
Year 3
Your final year is where you bring everything together. You’ll complete a Research Project in International Relations and Politics, giving you the chance to investigate a topic you care about most. Alongside this, optional modules such as Security, Terrorism and War, Power, Politics and Human Rights, and Challenging Western-centrism in International Relations push your critical thinking even further. You’ll graduate ready to analyse, debate, and influence real global issues.
