Program Overview

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Build your foundations
Your first year sets the stage with core ideas and systems that define politics today. You’ll dive into modules like Power, Politics & Ideology in Modern Europe and Politics and Government, exploring how political institutions work and why ideologies matter. You’ll also study International Political Theory and The Making and Unmaking of the World Order, getting to grips with the global forces behind political change.

Year 2 – Sharpen your skills and perspectives
In second year, the focus shifts to research and deeper analysis. Through modules like Theories and Methods in Political Research and Research Design, you’ll learn how to ask the right questions and back them up with evidence. Optional modules such as Politics of Development, History of Political Thought and Capitalism, Democracy and the State let you tailor your studies to the areas you care most about.

Final Year – Specialise and stand out
Your final year is all about applying what you’ve learned and carving out your niche. You’ll complete a dissertation on a topic that inspires you and choose from thought-provoking modules like Emerging Threats in the 21st Century, Contemporary Political Philosophy, International Politics of the Middle East, or Gender and Global Politics. By the end, you’ll graduate with both a deep understanding of politics and the skills to make a difference in the field.
