Throughout the course, you’ll develop key transferable skills, including critical thinking, project management, presentation, and professional practice, which are highly valued by employers across numerous fields. You will also explore a broad range of topics, preparing you for careers in psychology—whether in mental health, forensic settings, or outside psychology, such as human resources, marketing, or management.

Additionally, the program offers an optional placement year, with the choice of a 4-week or 30-week industry placement. This hands-on experience will not only enhance your learning but also help you build essential contacts in your chosen field.

Accredited by the British Psychological Society, this degree offers the path to the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) upon graduation with a Second Class Honours or higher, the first step toward becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Research Projects:
As part of your degree, you’ll have opportunities to engage in research projects under the guidance of experienced academic staff. These projects often span a variety of psychological domains such as mental health, cognition, social psychology, and more. Participating in these research initiatives will help you develop your critical thinking and analytical skills, and allow you to apply theoretical concepts to practical situations.

  • Independent Research:
In your final year, you’ll undertake an independent research project where you’ll explore a psychological topic that interests you. This project will provide you with the chance to develop your research skills, such as hypothesis formation, data collection, and analysis, while working closely with a faculty member. The hands-on experience of conducting original research will prepare you for postgraduate study or a professional career in psychology.

  • Placements:
Many psychology courses offer optional placement opportunities, either in industry or in specialized fields such as mental health services, forensic settings, or educational institutions. These placements allow you to gain real-world experience, apply your academic knowledge to practice, and build valuable professional networks. Placements can range from a few weeks to a year, depending on the program.

  • Workshops and Seminars:
Throughout your studies, you’ll participate in workshops and seminars that will help you refine your research methods, present your findings, and collaborate with peers. These activities will not only deepen your understanding of psychological theories but also enhance your communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Specialist Facilities:
At many universities, you’ll have access to specialized labs and equipment, such as brain imaging tools, eye-tracking systems, and psychometric testing software. These facilities will allow you to conduct experiments and gather data in a controlled, professional environment.
