Program Overview:
This four‑year, full‑time degree blends core psychological science with sport, health and exercise studies. Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), it equips you to understand how physical activity impacts mind and body, and is ideal for careers in sport psychology, wellbeing promotion, coaching or future postgraduate study.

Curriculum Structure

Year One
In your first year, you’ll cover foundational modules in psychology including developmental, cognitive, social and biological psychology, while also being introduced to sport and exercise contexts. You’ll develop essential research skills in both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Year Two
Your second year deepens understanding of psychological theories and their application to physical activity, alongside advanced modules in motivation, performance and health psychology. Research methodology continues to feature alongside more applied insights into athlete behaviour.

Placement Year (Optional)
You may choose to spend your third year in a professional placement within a psychology, sport science, or health-related setting. Brunel supports two six‑month placements or one year abroad option for practical, real-world experience to strengthen your CV.

Final Year
In your final year, you focus on specialised topics such as Psychology of Sport and Exercise, Learning & Social Psychology, and Employability in Psychology. You also complete an independent dissertation research project to develop critical analysis and specialist expertise.

Learning Outcomes:
Graduates will be able to apply psychological theory to sport and health contexts, design and conduct empirical research, critically evaluate behaviour in applied settings, and communicate insights effectively. The placement option further develops professional experience.

Professional Alignment (Accreditation):
This course is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), qualifying graduates (with at least a 2:2 degree) for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC)—required for postgraduate psychology training
