4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Glasgow Caledonian University

Program Overview

The BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology degree explores the scientific study of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, focusing on how psychology can be used to understand and solve real-world problems. This applied course combines research, theory, and practical application, providing a dynamic and stimulating learning experience. It is designed to develop both specialist psychological knowledge and a wide range of transferable skills, enhancing personal development and employability.

Students gain a strong foundation in core psychological theories and research methods, with these concepts contextualised through real-life examples and case studies. The course includes applied psychology modules that introduce students to various professional pathways within the field, supporting informed career decisions and smooth transitions into employment or postgraduate study.

The programme offers flexibility, allowing students to explore complementary disciplines such as biology, modern languages, or social sciences. In the final year, students may specialise by choosing relevant optional modules and completing a research project in their area of interest. This can lead to a named degree in one of four applied areas: Counselling, Forensic, Health, or Sport and Exercise Psychology.

All degree pathways are accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), making graduates eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC)—a key step toward becoming a Chartered Psychologist. Students also have the opportunity to spend a trimester abroad, broadening their academic and cultural experience.
