Program Overview:
This three-year BPS-accredited programme integrates psychology with criminology to examine both individual behaviour and societal responses to crime. Keele was the UK’s first university to launch a dedicated criminology degree, and it combines strong theoretical foundations with practical research skills.
Curriculum Structure
Year One
Foundations in psychology and crime studies are introduced through modules such as Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Criminology, Criminal Justice System, and Research Design and Analysis 1.
Year Two
You'll explore modules like Identities in Psychology, Mind, Brain and Development, and Research Design and Analysis 2, with optional topics including Criminal Psychology and Youth Crime & Justice.
Year Three
The final year includes a double-credit Psychology Project and a range of options such as Forensic Psychology, Cognitive Neuropsychology, Clinical Aspects of Mental Health, Psychology and Social Justice, Victimology, Organised Crime, and Policing & Public Order. This allows specialisation and in-depth study choices.
Placement Option:
An optional sandwich year between Years Two and Three allows work experience or a study abroad module, helping to build real-world skills and strengthen employability.
