BA Hons Sociology and Psychological Studies

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Leeds Beckett University

Program Overview

Program Overview:
This three‑year degree combines sociology and psychology to explore fundamental questions about human identity, culture, and behaviour. You’ll gain insight into how individual thought and emotion interact with social structures, institutions, and cultural norms.

Curriculum Structure

Year One
In your first year, you'll study interdisciplinary psychology alongside core sociology modules. Key themes include exploring how societies operate, the formation of identity, psychosocial development, consciousness, and introductory research skills in both disciplines. Modules such as Doing Sociology in Leeds, Mind, Self & Culture, and Interdisciplinary Psychology help you understand social and psychological concepts from multiple angles.

Year Two
The second year continues your journey with a deeper focus on both fields. You’ll engage with topics like Environmental Psychology, Critical Social Psychology, Psychology of Persuasion, and Modern Social Theory, complemented by modules on gender, social research, and sociological perspectives. This year sharpens your analytical understanding and research abilities.

Year Three
In your final year, you undertake a sociology dissertation and select advanced modules such as Radical Psychology, Contemporary Society and Social Futures, and options like Identity & Power or Transpersonal Psychology. This phase encourages independent research and lets you tailor your studies to topics that resonate most deeply.
