Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Psychology with Foundation at Regent's University London is designed for students who want to build strong academic, research, and critical thinking skills before progressing to specialist psychology study. Foundation Year

The Foundation Year prepares students for university-level study through modules including Critical Thinking, Cultural Understanding, Politics, Society and Citizenship, Writing for Success at University, and Communication. Students strengthen their academic writing, research, presentation, critical reasoning, and interpersonal skills while developing a broad understanding of society, culture, and contemporary global issues before progressing to degree-level psychology.

Year 1

Students build a strong foundation in psychology through modules including Roots and Branches in Psychology, Psychological Enquiry, Origins of Psychology, and Psychology and Mental Health. They explore biological, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology while developing research methods, critical thinking, and academic skills through Learning Perspectives and Exploring Industry and Entrepreneurship.

Year 2

The second year focuses on applying psychology to professional settings through modules such as Psychology in Practice, Psychology in Industry, and Psychology in Postmodernity. Students investigate careers across clinical, counselling, educational, forensic, occupational, health, and sport psychology while exploring behavioural economics, organisational psychology, equality, diversity and inclusion, and emerging psychological perspectives. Students also complete an Industry Challenge, Enterprise Challenge, or Professional Placement, alongside specialist elective modules.

Year 3

In the final year, students consolidate their professional expertise through Psychological Literacy in Action, Psychological Interventions, and the two-part Major Project. They apply psychological knowledge to contemporary social and organisational challenges, evaluate evidence-based interventions, and complete an independent research project that reflects their academic interests and career aspirations.
