BSc (Hons) Psychology with Integrated Foundation Year

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Chichester

Program Overview

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Integrated Foundation Year offers a structured pathway into the field of psychology, beginning with an initial foundation year designed to build the academic skills necessary for success at the degree level. This year also introduces key concepts in psychology, providing a broad understanding of the discipline.

In the second year, students explore core psychological theories and the scientific foundations that explain everyday behaviors. Emphasis is placed on acquiring research methods and analytical skills, forming the basis for future academic and practical work in psychology.

By the third year, students will have developed a deeper knowledge across various branches of psychology. This stage focuses on applying research methods, designing experiments, analyzing data, and critically evaluating psychological studies, thereby preparing students for more advanced inquiry or professional training.

The program is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and meets the requirements for Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR), a vital first step for those intending to pursue postgraduate training and become Chartered Psychologists. The BPS currently recognizes 10 professional divisions, including Clinical, Educational, and Sport and Exercise Psychology.

While the degree equips students for specialized careers within psychology, it also imparts a strong understanding of human behavior—skills that are highly valued across a range of professions, from education and healthcare to business and public service. This broad applicability ensures that graduates are well-prepared for diverse career paths or further academic study.
