BSc Psychology with Education Studies

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Warwick

Program Overview

This degree offers a scientific grounding in human behaviour through psychology, while also exploring the nature, purposes and complexities of education in a globalised world. It is ideal for students who are curious about how people learn and develop, and who see themselves working with children, young people, schools or families in future.

Curriculum structure

Year One
In the first year students build core psychological knowledge while being introduced to the education dimension. Modules such as Brain and Behaviour and Neuropsychology and Psychopathology give insights into nervous‑system function and developmental disorders; Psychology in Context brings in historical and cognitive themes; meanwhile the education‑side modules like Theories of Learning and Sociologies of Education help students explore how humans learn and how education relates to social factors.

Year Two
In year two students deepen their psychology study via modules like Individual Differences (on personality, intelligence and research methods) and Psychobiology (brain, genes, hormones) and Further Methods in Psychology (advanced statistical and research techniques). Across this year they also pick two education‑option modules (for example Globalisation and Education or Education and Social Justice) that allow them to see how education research and policy interface with psychological development.

Year Three
In the final year students undertake an individual project—applying the full range of research, analytical and practical skills acquired earlier. They also choose from a range of optional modules across psychology and education that match their interests (e.g., Children’s Literature in Childhood, Psychology and the Law, Developmental Psychopathology). This allows them to tailor their degree towards a particular focus area.

Focus areas: “Human development, learning and behaviour; education policy and social context; research methods in psychology; psychology of learning and teaching.”

Learning outcomes: “Graduates will understand psychological theories and methods; be able to apply psychological insights to educational contexts; critically evaluate research in both psychology and education; develop independent research skills and prepare for careers or further study in psychology, education or related fields.”

Professional alignment (accreditation): The programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), meaning it meets the standards for psychology training set by the professional body.

Reputation (employability rankings): Guardian University Guide (2025) ranks Warwick 8th in the UK. The university is also noted as “6th most targeted university by the UK’s top 100 graduate employers”.
