BA Hons Sociology

This course gives you opportunities to explore and analyse the nature of diverse societies, and develop informed insights into the challenges facing a globalised and interconnected world. Sociology is a global and vital discipline, you will analyse and understand the social world with depth and conviction. The subject is driven by those who have an interest in not only studying society, but also a desire to make society more just and equal. Through linking theory with the real world, you are encouraged to apply your sociological knowledge to social contexts whether they are related to inequality, the state, crime, difference, securitization and mass media, or those every day, taken-for-granted features of life which seem less important, such as consumption, taste and the performance of our identities.
