Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Screenwriting and Producing at Regent's University London prepares students to become creative storytellers and production professionals capable of developing, writing, producing, and bringing original film and television projects to market. Curriculum Structure

Year 1

Students build a strong foundation in storytelling and production through modules including Visual Storytelling, Researching and Writing for Filmmakers, and Studio Production. They explore narrative structure, script development, film language, production workflows, and collaborative filmmaking while gaining practical experience in writing, producing, directing, and managing creative projects.

Year 2

The second year focuses on developing professional writing and producing skills through modules such as The Creative Producer, Showrunner: Series Concept, and Showrunner: The Pilot. Students learn script analysis, intellectual property (IP), adaptation for the screen, television series development, pitching, packaging projects for the market, and creating original series bibles and pilot screenplays. They also attend a relevant short film festival to analyse industry practice and inform their own creative ambitions.

Year 3

In the final year, students consolidate their creative and entrepreneurial expertise through Major Project I, Major Project II, and advanced professional practice modules. They write and produce an original short film, refine their screenwriting portfolio, explore financing, distribution and marketing strategies, and graduate with industry-ready scripts and production projects that demonstrate both creative vision and commercial awareness.
