This year emphasizes the development of practical skills and prepares students for their upcoming placement year.
Placement Year: In the third year, students undertake a 9–12 month industry placement, applying their academic knowledge in a professional setting. Supported by UEA's CareerCentral service, this experience enhances employability and provides valuable insights into the media industry.
Year 4: The final year focuses on independent research and specialization, offering modules such as Researching Contemporary Media Cultures, Critical Approaches to Digital Media in the AI Age, Creative Work in the Media Industries, Scriptwriting: Adaptation, Gender and Television, and Dissertation in Media, Language and Communication Studies. Students will complete a dissertation, allowing them to explore a topic of personal interest in depth.
