The primary emphasis of this course revolves around exploring the history of global art and visual culture, spanning from the eighteenth century to the present. It encompasses a broad spectrum of creative expressions, ranging from modern art and popular photography to multimedia and contemporary practices.

During the course, you will delve into the intricate relationship between creativity, culture, and politics. This involves studying material and visual histories, art theory, and actively participating in discussions surrounding various significant topics such as gender and sexuality, ecology, race, class, politics, and ableism. Additionally, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge pertaining to the processes of collecting, curating, and exhibition-making in the art world.

For A-levels or BTEC, the entry requirements fall within the range of A-level BBB–BCC (120–104 UCAS Tariff points), or BTEC Extended Diploma DMM–MMM. Typically, our conditional offers are within this range.

In the case of the International Baccalaureate, a minimum of 26 points is required, with at least three subjects at the Higher level.

To meet the requirements for the Access to HE Diploma, a pass is necessary, with a total of 60 credits. Preferably, humanities, history, or politics courses are preferred. Among the 60 credits, at least 45 must be at level 3.

If you have previously studied or have relevant experience, it may be taken into account for your course at Brighton. This could exempt you from certain elements of the course or enable you to start in the second or third year.

In terms of English language proficiency, an overall IELTS score of 6.0 is required, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each element.
