By enrolling in the BA(Hons) Film degree program, you will acquire a comprehensive foundation in all aspects of filmmaking, positioning you to be part of the emerging wave of filmmakers. Throughout the course, you will cultivate technical, theoretical, and analytical skills through practical hands-on screen projects. Additionally, you will develop a solid comprehension of the industry, including the art of pitching, promoting, and distributing your work.

The program emphasizes the study of production, storytelling, and writing, allowing you to graduate as a skilled, inquisitive, daring, and self-assured practitioner. Through exploring key themes and engaging in debates that underlie both contemporary and historical cinema, you will develop a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of theoretical film analysis.

Collaboration with prominent media practitioners, filmmakers, distributors, festival programmers, and cutting-edge researchers in conceptual film analysis will be integral to your learning experience.

For admission into the program, there are several options available:

For A-level or BTEC qualifications, the entry requirements range from BBB–BCC grades in A-levels (equivalent to 120–104 UCAS Tariff points) or DMM–MMM grades in BTEC Extended Diploma. Conditional offers from our institution typically align with these requirements.

Applicants with an International Baccalaureate should have achieved a minimum of 30 points, with at least three subjects at the Higher level.

For those holding an Access to HE Diploma, successful completion involves obtaining a minimum of 60 credits overall, with at least 45 credits at level 3 and a minimum of 24 credits at a merit level or higher.

In certain cases, prior qualifications, Higher Education (HE) credits, or relevant experience may be considered and could potentially exempt you from certain elements of the course or allow you to start in the second or third year, depending on the extent of the qualification or experience.

Regarding English language proficiency, a minimum overall score of 6.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination is required, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each individual element.
