You'll learn by examining your own lived experiences along with those of your classmates, as you explore the roles of power and privilege, access and equity, and the impact on people's well-being.The heightened awareness and knowledge you will gain with a minor in Diversity and Social Welfare will set you apart in your career.You will be exposed to a wide variety of policies, programs, and services designed to improve quality of life for the underserved, people in need of health and human services.Guided by the distinctive person-in-environment approach of social work the minor includes courses in religion, political science, sociology, as well as social work, to give you a firm foundation of the issues of diversity and social welfare.You'll gain an in-depth understanding of diversity factors such as age, class, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, immigration status, political ideology, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.
