Program Overview

ARC 101 Architectural Visualization and Representation I and ARC 111 Introduction to World Architecture and Urbanism develop early skills in architectural representation and understanding architecture within global and urban contexts.

Year 2: Students progress into more advanced studio work through ARC 253 Design Studio III and ARC 254 Design Studio IV, while ARC 203 Architectural Visualization and Representation II strengthens their ability to communicate architectural ideas. ARC 212 History and Theory I: 15th–17th Centuries, ARC 213 History and Theory II: 18th–19th Centuries, and ARC 231 Structural and Material Concepts connect historical knowledge with structural and material considerations.

Year 3: Students undertake ARC 355 Design Studio V and ARC 356 Design Studio VI, applying increasingly sophisticated design approaches to architectural problems. ARC 314 History and Theory III: 20th Century and Contemporary Architecture examines modern and contemporary architecture, while ARC 332 Environmental Controls I and ARC 333 Environmental Controls II introduce environmental systems and building performance.

Year 4: The final year brings together advanced design and technical knowledge through ARC 457 Design Studio VII and ARC 458 Design Studio VIII, supported by ARC 434 Structural Design and Analysis I and ARC 435 Materials and Methods of Construction. Students also complete an architecture history and theory seminar and architecture electives, allowing them to deepen their interests while integrating structural, material, construction, and design knowledge.

Wood & Metal Workshops: Students can work with traditional fabrication equipment including table saws, panel saws, lathes, band saws, drill presses, planers, welders, plasma cutters, and metalworking equipment.
Digital Modeling & Printing: The College of Design Computer Lab provides 3D computer-generated modeling, large-format printing, scanners, and plotters, including HP Designjet wide-format systems.
Collaborative Projects: The School's curriculum includes collaborative, design-related assignments involving research, staff or client meetings, site visits, drawing and model production, and material/product selection, connecting studio learning with professional architectural activities.
