BFA Fine Arts Photography

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University at Buffalo SUNY

Program Overview

Photography is a multifaceted visual, lens-based, discipline. Whether images emanate from darkroom or software; from view camera, Holga, DSLR or cell phone, the photography curriculum at UB is conceptually driven, promoting experimentation and interdisciplinary exploration. Students in the photography concentration will be exploratory creators, motivated and independent young artists open to multiple possibilities of expression. Informed by historical development, contemporary concerns, and anticipating the future of photography, students will engage in a critical analysis of form, intention and meaning. The BFA degree focuses on intensive work in photography, supported by a smaller, more defined program of general studies.
