Program Overview

The composition/arranging emphasis is career preparation for composers/arrangers as well as those who consider graduate-level study in composition/arranging. Students receive weekly private lessons in a wide range of styles and genres including choral, orchestral, instrumental, keyboard, chamber music, electro-acoustic music and film scoring. Opportunities for performance abound, as student works are read by campus ensembles and chamber groups, and performed in public concerts and annual competitions.

Completed Asbury Academy application, official high school transcript showing a weighted cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher for high school seniors and a 3.25 or higher for high school juniors, Official examination scores from the ACT or SAT are required for admittance to certain classes ENG 110 Exposition and Research ACT English 22 / SAT Critical Reading 510, ENG 151 Advanced Exposition and Research ACT English 27 / SAT Critical Reading 660, MAT 120 Viewing Life Mathematically ACT Math 22 / SAT Math 510, Academic Recommendation letter, Written permission from a parent or guardian, English Proficiency Tests: a minimum score of 80 on the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL or 550 on the paper-based TOEFL. IELTS applicants must present a minimum score of 6.5, Statement of Financial Responsibility
