Program Overview

Students in the music education track who choose the concentration area of general music will be working to be experts in non-ensemble specific music education. Students will have exposure to the methodologies of Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly, and Modern Band. The field of music education is extremely rewarding and this is a fantastic certification. Students in this concentration will spend time in field placements that include many levels of general music. Certification is for grades P (preschool) through grade 12.

Completed Asbury Academy application, official high school transcript showing a weighted cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher for high school seniors and a 3.25 or higher for high school juniors, Official examination scores from the ACT or SAT are required for admittance to certain classes ENG 110 Exposition and Research ACT English 22 / SAT Critical Reading 510, ENG 151 Advanced Exposition and Research ACT English 27 / SAT Critical Reading 660, MAT 120 Viewing Life Mathematically ACT Math 22 / SAT Math 510, Academic Recommendation letter, Written permission from a parent or guardian, English Proficiency Tests: a minimum score of 80 on the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL or 550 on the paper-based TOEFL. IELTS applicants must present a minimum score of 6.5, Statement of Financial Responsibility
